Very interesting use of traditional Dutch souvenirs as seen in Shiraz, Iran. A series of Delfts blue painted miniature statues of Dutch children in traditional costumes as well as wooden shoes have been enriched with evil eye beads and are sold as amulet.
This Tuesday I will be presenting a lecture on traditional silver jewelry and magic for the National Museum of Antiquities. Jewelry as amulet, talisman and charm has always fascinated me, so I am looking forward to introduce the subject to my audience! For more info, have a look here (in Dutch).
