This full-colour book explores the context of traditional jewelry from the Middle East and North-Africa. Jewelry is more than just decoration, but plays a subtle role in everyday society as communicator, messenger and bank account. All of these aspects are discussed in the book and illustrated with rich examples, from Palestinian wedding necklaces made from fragrant cloves to the brightly enamelled bracelets of the Maghreb.

Newspaper articles

Telegraaf 11 januari 2011 A nice newspaper article in Dutch. One minor detail: the caption with the photograph is mistaken, it’s not an earring, but a headdress ornament, and the photograph is not by the museum but by myself. The photographs in the printed edition are correctly captioned and referenced!
