Sigrid has developed various interesting lectures on the different aspects of jewelry. With a keen eye for detail, years of educational experience and genuine enthusiasm she explains the intricacies of jewelry in a comprehensible and enjoyable way. Available lectures are:
Between fear and fashion: magic in silver jewelry - Lecture on the magical aspects of silver jewelry, illustrated with photographs from the author’s collection. This lecture presents insight in the use of colours, materials, symbols, texts and numbers used in traditional jewelry.
Silver Echoes – Lecture on the many aspects of traditional jewelry, illustrated with photographs from the author’s collection. This lecture introduces the use of jewelry as status-indicator, magical amulet, financial security and illustrates the enormous time-depth of decoration, materials and symbols…from ancient Egypt to jewelry items that are still in use today.
Each lecture is 1,5 hrs and is accompanied by a concise exhibition* of the main items dicussed in the lecture, so you can not only enjoy hearing about jewelry but feel, smell and try it for yourself as well. Lectures can be requested for any group with a minimum of 10 persons, and can be presented either in Dutch or in English.
